Cynthia Blaise is an American dialect coach and former actress. She is known for being the first wife of actor and comedian Keegan-Michael Key. Blaise has been interested in the performing arts since was a child. She attended the University of Oregon from where she received her B.A. in theatre. Afterwards, she earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in acting from the University of California Irvine. Blaise made her screen debut in 1989 in ‘Star Trek V: The Final Frontier’ and went on to play various roles in ‘Timequest’, ‘Key and Peele’, and ‘Robot Chicken’. She began her career as a dialect coach in the 1996 independent melodrama ‘The Spitfire Grill’. In the ensuing years, she has been associated with projects like ‘Polish Wedding’, ‘Miami Vice’, ‘Justice’, and ‘The Tiger Hunter’. Blaise and Key met while they were both affiliated with the Detroit Repertory Theatre. In 1998, they exchanged wedding vows. The couple divorced in 2017 and have no children together.
